INSTRUCTIONS (MOI)
RECOMMENDED GUIDE for MOI
1. Introduction
Introduce the command
that will be taught.
2. Formation of Squad
To be effective in
transferring knowledge of drill, the IC should bear in mind two factors on the
formation of squad
· The comfort of the
squad
Minimize
the chance of then facing the sun, under shade if necessary, etc.
· Deploy them in the
formation in which they will learn fastest.

Three
ranks---------------------- Open order
Saluting at halt
Break
into smaller groups
3. Explanation
Explain what you are
about to teach and its importance.
4. Demonstration
Break into 3
components:
1.
Complete
demonstration, shouting out the words of command.
2.
Demonstration
by number, pointing out important details.
3.
Another
complete demonstration
5. Practice
After each
demonstration by numbers, practice the squad in that movement checking their
faults.
Finally after
demonstrating the whole movement, practice the squad, judging the time.
Note: Allow a Q&A session with the cadets.
QUALITIES OF AN INSTRUCTOR
Drill is exacting. To
teach successfully, you must possess the following qualities:
1. Patience : Never lose your temper
2. Enthusiasm : You must install your sound with a will to
learn
3. Consistency : Set a standard for both yourself and the squad,
and do not deviate from it
4. Humanity : Understand the
squad's problems. Praise when necessary and never humiliate individual members
of the squad.
5. Personality : As a Drill Instructor, you must impress your
squad with your personality and always control them fully.
